Verb / Slang
LARP is internet slang derived from “Live Action Role Play.” In online conversations, it is often used to describe people who create a false image of themselves or exaggerate who they are. The term is usually meant as criticism and suggests that someone’s online persona does not match reality.
Example: “He’s always posting pictures of rented supercars. He’s clearly LARPing as a millionaire.”
Means: “He is pretending to be wealthy to impress people.”
Example: “Stop LARPing as a trading expert when you’ve never made a profit.”
Means: “Stop pretending to be an expert when you lack real experience.”
